About the Role

At Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) we are looking for a champion School Financial Support Officer with high attention to detail to support our School Finance and Administration Support team. You will be a key resource for providing frontline phone financial support and training services to SCS staff to enable the efficient operation of the team in response to newly implemented financial management systems.

The role exists to support schools in maintaining efficient and reliable accounting and administrative records that meet their internal and external reporting requirements in providing over-the-phone support, guidance, analytics and training.

As a School Financial Support Officer, your day-to-day will include:

  • providing technical and operational support on administration and financial systems via help desk application, phone and email
  • financial analysis, financial accounting processing, account reconciliation, journals and support the Operations Manager through report generation and ad hoc requests
  • assisting schools with fees and charges, preparing annual fee billing, including managing fee accounts for arriving and leaving students
  • researching problems and providing solutions to bring matters to a close
  • assisting schools in preparing reports, operating the financial systems
  • reviewing support resources and providing operational updates as required
  • assisting in the preparation and delivery of training and procedures documentation
  • assisting with attendance setup and data extractions
  • providing support for applications including using Power BI reports, Excel and Google Drive
  • supporting the refund process within school finance and administration systems
  • updating Schools Master List(s)
  • all other duties as listed in your role description.

About You

  • minimum five years experience working in a finance administration role using advanced customer service skills
  • extensive knowledge of finance and administration functions and processes
  • demonstrated experience of participating in change programs, with an ability to support rapid change and hold a steady course in an ever changing environment
  • demonstrated experience working in a flexible, agile and innovative work environment
  • demonstrated experience training staff in finance and administration functions
  • demonstrated ability to ensure a high-level of accuracy in finance processing
  • demonstrated ability in investigating and resolving finance and administration processing issues
  • demonstrated ability in communicating and documenting finance and administration processes to key stakeholders
  • self-motivated with the strong ability to work both independently and within a team
  • advanced written and verbal communication skills as well as highly developed interpersonal skills
  • technology proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office
  • exposure to Accounting Systems (Technology One, SAP, etc.)
  • other requirements as per the role description.
