About the Role

At Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) we are looking for a champion Accounts Payable Officer with high attention to detail to support our Accounts Payable team. You will be a key resource for performing the accounts payable function, which consists of managing and processing a high volume of invoices, corporate card transactions, payments and queries. 

The position also ensures accounts payable guidelines and policies are followed whilst providing support services to the Central Office and all SCS schools to enable the efficient operation of the supplier base.

As an Accounts Payable Officer, your day-to-day will include:

  • acting as the first point of call and resolving accounts payable queries across the system
  • processing the following in the system accurately and within assigned timeframes:

○ purchase Order matching invoices for Central Office and Schools

○ managing and verifying a high volume of Non-PO invoices for posting

○ running daily EFT payment runs – Central Office and Schools

○ running BPAY, OTH and CHQ payment runs (twice weekly)

○ corporate Credit Card reconciliations and verification – Central Office and Schools

○ handling all ServiceNow queries for AP, Mastercard, and Supplier data

○ liaising with suppliers for refunds and associated queries

○ managing and resolving issues sent to the fmu@ email account

○ year-end accounting duties as directed

○ managing Creditor Master Data and associated queries

○ administering and liaising with eftSure for supplier verification

○ managing Debtor Master Data and associated queries

○ providing daily support to all SCS staff on AP processes

  • ensuring invoice details are processed with accurate data with a correlating purchase order (if applicable) and are compliant with GST legislation
  • ensuring the payment run is checked promptly with all supporting documentation provided to approvers
  • willingness to work with other teams within Finance on an ad hoc basis


About You

  • minimum of five years of experience in a Finance related support role
  • demonstrated sound understanding of end-to-end Accounts Payable processes
  • demonstrated sound understanding of audit and ATO requirements for Tax Invoices
  • demonstrated high-level knowledge of GST calculations and implications for ATO compliance
  • demonstrated high-level understanding and knowledge of the double entry system (Debits and Credits)
  • experienced managing and utilising credit card expense systems
  • other requirements as per the role description.
