Sydney Catholic schools provide all students with curricular and co-curricular opportunities in singing, dancing, acting and instrumental music – and the opportunities for students with an artistic flair to flourish are only increasing.

In 2021, SCS debuted the Sydney Catholic Schools Eisteddfod. Now in its third year, the entries have almost tripled. In 2022, the Archdiocesan Musical extravaganza, School of Rock, played to tens of thousands of audience members, featuring over 3000 performers.

Excitingly, SCS launched a comprehensive music education program in 2021, called Amadeus, providing students with orchestral instruments, as well as classroom and ensemble music lessons led by specialist teachers.

Plus, Southern Cross Catholic College Burwood offers full-time courses for students in Years 9 to 12 seeking a specialised education in the performing arts. The college’s program includes the NESA board developed Music, Dance and Drama courses (all levels), as well as a Certificate III in Community Dance, Theatre and Events.
