Future Teachers Scholarship

The Future Teachers Scholarship supports high-performing Year 12 students aspiring to careers in Primary or Secondary Education. Scholarships offer $5,000 per year throughout the degree, plus a one-off $2,000 upfront payment to get scholarship recipients started on their journey.  Mentor support is an important component for the duration of the program.

About the Program

The Future Teachers Scholarship program is open to all candidates entering into a NESA-Accredited, 4 year undergraduate Initial Teacher Education program at an Australian University, particularly those wanting to specialise in:

Religious Education

Mathematics, Science

Technology, Literacy and Numeracy

Eligibility Criteria

With a focus on high performance and educational excellence across our system of schools, we welcome applicants who have:

An ATAR of 80 or above

At least 3 Band 5 results in any subject, including English

At least Band 4 in any Mathematics course (Primary teaching candidates)

Applicants will also need to provide two recommendations, one from their current Principal or their delegate, and one other.

To continue in the scholarship program, candidates will need to pass all units, and maintain satisfactory grades in all Professional Experience Placements.

Future Teachers Scholarship

SCS is offering a significant number of scholarships on an annual basis. This includes:

Financial Support of $22,000 over four years which includes:

$0

A one off, up-front payment to cover necessities for university study, eg computer, textbooks, or other.

$0

per annum for 4 consecutive full time years of study in an Australian Initial Teacher Education program.

Opportunity for employment in a classroom-based role with Sydney Catholic Schools in a part time or casual capacity whilst studying.

5 scholarships targeted to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.

Mentoring support by an experienced teacher, Aboriginal Education Officer, or school leader.

Membership of SCS’ Future Teacher Community of Practice.

3 years indentured Full time employment in SCS upon completion of study, subject to achieving accreditations.

Excellence in Initial Teacher Education Scholarship

The Initial Teacher Education (ITE) Scholarship program supports high performing ITE students currently enrolled in a Master of Teaching or are in their third or fourth year of an Undergraduate Teaching Program.
