We are looking for committed primary and secondary educators to be part of our system of 147 schools across Sydney.
Sydney Catholic Schools greatly values the important role of casual teachers in our school communities.
If you are interested in casual teaching work, please submit your application here. Once you’ve applied, our Talent team will match you with Principals for suitable work opportunities.
If you are interested in non- teaching casual work, please contact your local SCS school for any available opportunities. Applications for casual non-teaching work will only be considered upon request from a school Principal.
Temporary and permanent opportunities at SCS can be found by clicking here. Teachers and non-teaching school support staff looking for temporary or permanent employment no longer need to Register to Teach/Work as a casual employee. You will be cleared for work during the application process.
All teachers and general employees must be registered to work before being engaged at any of our Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS).

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, we have simplified our Registration to Teach/Work and our onboarding processes to improve our applicant experience.
Previously, applicants for school-based roles were required to submit a Registration to Teach or Work application prior to being offered a position.
Applicants can now apply for roles directly through our Careers portal (PHRIS) and undergo our screening processes before commencing work. Our Talent team will review applications for casual work and support applicants in finding work.
Teachers interested in working with SCS in a casual teaching capacity can submit an application for their preferred network. Our Talent team monitors new applications and works closely with our Principals to match applicants with suitable roles and opportunities. Prospective casuals are also welcome to contact our schools directly.
Once a Principal is interested in engaging a casual teacher, your application for casual work will be fast-tracked for onboarding, and you will receive an SCS Employee ID Number.
Unfortunately, if you are not available to work or we are unable to find a suitable opportunity, we may not be able to progress your application.
Applications for casual work for non-teaching staff are only reviewed upon request by our school Principals.

For Teachers Only:
If you’re seeking casual teaching work, apply directly to your preferred network as indicated above. Please note that you will receive your SCS number only after securing a position.
Casual engagements for non-teaching roles, such as a Learning Support Officer, or School Support Officer, are managed at a school level by the Principal. Applicants cannot be registered as casual staff without a firm commitment of work. This process involves the school conducting interviews and completing reference checks with applicants before any employment offers are made.
Once you have been offered casual work by a Principal, access our careers portal using the link here, update the Department to ‘Casual – Sydney’ and submit your application under the relevant role type. Your Principal may then contact P&C Services to request a fast track of your application.
Please note your application must be approved and processed by P&C Services before you can accept any work.
You can return to the Careers Portal by clicking here, then clicking “Sign In”. Once you log in, you’ll be able to pick up where you left off, upload any additional documentation, or make changes to your application before submitting it for review. If you decide not to proceed, you’ll also have the option to withdraw your application.
