VET students recognised for workplace achievements
Talented Vocational Education and Training (VET) students from Sydney Catholic Schools have been acknowledged with a slew of awards this year. Vocational Education and Training students at Sydney Catholic Schools scooped almost a quarter of the honours given at the MLWP Work Placement Awards. Two students took out three of 16 awards at an event held by the not-for-profit youth career development provider in March. Another two were finalists. Meet our new Family Educators sharing the faith
Family educators have played a key role in creating vibrant faith communities at Sydney Catholic Schools since their role was introduced in 2009. Meet the initiative's newest faces, who bring a wealth of life experience to their roles. St Joseph's Catholic Primary School Riverwood’s family educator Claudia Maroun was a family educator in 2018 and “absolutely loved it”. A parishioner at Our Lady of Fatima Kingsgrove and mother of three, she has spent 20 years in the university education sector and three in the NDIS. Sculpture collaboration makes stewards of the ocean
A people's choice award - and a cameo on Sunrise - have highlighted the creativity and environmental consciousness of a visual arts collaboration between five Sydney Catholic Schools. Students made coral-coloured ocean landscape Revived Reefs at a series of workshops for the Sydney Catholic Schools Visual Arts program, Sculpture by the Schools. The sculpture received the People's Choice Award in the 2024 Volvo Ocean Lovers’ Festival’s Litterarti Waste Art Competition.
