About the role

The Payroll Subject Matter Expert is responsible for the delivery of high-quality fortnightly payroll for 11,000 employees ensuring accurate processing of salaries in a time-sensitive manner. In this role, you will work in a supportive, collaborative and close-knit team environment.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • updating employee data, position changes, terminations and resignations
  • high-level leave management
  • responding to enquiries via the ticketing system (ServiceNow)
  • escalation point for payroll enquiries
  • assisting in managing superannuation, the election of a fund by employees and contributions in accordance with relevant SGC legislation
  • assisting with fortnightly reporting
  • maintaining and updating employee records and payroll data within PHRIS, including filing and archiving payroll information.

About you

The successful candidate will also possess the following:

  • proven track record in large volume payroll, of at least 1,000 employees + 
  • experience in a complex Award / EA interpretation  
  • an ability to work independently and be self motivated
  • proven ability to investigate issues, find solutions and articulate response
  • high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • a strong working knowledge of HRIS, Microsoft Office, Excel and Google suite is paramount
  • experience with the PeopleSoft system and working in Education is highly desirable
  • APA or TAPS certification is highly desirable.
