Sydney Catholic Schools has welcomed NSW Government funding to support the building of two new preschools on existing primary school sites at St Christopher’s Catholic Primary School Holsworthy and St Anthony’s Catholic Primary School Marsfield.

The grants have been awarded as part of the Preschools on Non-Government School Site Grant Program, which aims to improve early learning access for communities through the building and upgrading of 50 preschools across the state.

Acting Minister for Education and Early Learning Courtney Houssos visited St Christopher’s to announce the grants.

“Access to preschool close to home can be difficult for young families, and these grants will unlock more early learning places in growing areas,” she said.

“Working in partnership with the Catholic and Independent sectors, the Minns Labor Government is delivering expanded access to quality early learning.

“Alongside the 100 public preschools we are delivering by 2027, these new, high-quality preschools will provide more places for local families and support children to get the best start in life.”

Principal of St Christopher’s Catholic Primary School Linda O’Regan said the new preschool will help early learners transition smoothly from preschool to Kindergarten and ensure a continuity of learning and care.

“We’re incredibly grateful to receive this funding under the NSW Government’s Preschools on Non-Government School Sites Grant Program,” she said.

“This grant will enable us to build a purpose-built preschool facility right here on our school grounds, ensuring more local families have access to high-quality early learning in the years that matter most.”
