Gallery and Results: 2024 Sydney Chess Championships

Some of the best chess players from across the Archdiocese of Sydney came together to battle it out for supremacy at the 2024 Sydney Chess Championships at Rosebank College Five Dock on 2 July. 

Following the success of the inaugural competition in 2023, this year’s championships included students from 17 different secondary schools. 

Marist College Eastwood were the big victors on the day, taking out both the Intermediate and Senior age groups, while Marist Catholic College North Shore came out on top in the Junior category.  Click here for the full results

Students make moves at Chess Championships

Some of the best chess players from across the Archdiocese of Sydney squared off this week at the inaugural Sydney Chess Championships.

After qualifying it out across four conference days, 110 of the top ranked secondary school students descended upon Rosebank College Five Dock to determine who would be crowned champion.

Marist College Eastwood were the big victors on the day, taking out both the Junior and Intermediate age groups, while St Mary’s Cathedral College came out on top in the Senior category.
