A parish school was sought by the people, and the Sisters of St Joseph were asked to provide the staff. St Gertrude’s School began in the old church in 1952 with 75 infant students. Today the school motto ‘Desire God and Learning’ affirms our commitment to learning, to nurture our faith and grow in hope as a community.
