Long Bay Catholic School began in 1915, when the area was mainly sand dunes and marshland and the population was small. It was part of the parish of Maroubra. The priest asked the Daughters of Our Lady of the Sacred Heart to establish and staff the school. The school opened on Monday 3 May 1915 with 17 pupils in Dudley’s Hall. Today, St Andrews has almost 400 students and “Our Little School on the Hill” has greatly expanded.
