New Principal Kylie Brakel to lead Holy Cross Woollahra into new era
Holy Cross Catholic Primary School Woollahra is gaining recognition as a local community school that punches above its weight when it comes to getting results.
The school recently ranked in the Top 100 Sydney Primary Schools, securing 61st place in the Better Education rankings for its outstanding NAPLAN results.
Now, under the leadership of Kylie Brakel, a seasoned educator returning to Holy Cross as Principal, the school is poised to enter a new chapter of growth and opportunity.

Kylie brings a wealth of experience, having held various leadership roles across Sydney Catholic Schools – including Assistant Principal at St Bernard’s Botany and St Therese Mascot, and Principal at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School Oatley – before returning to Holy Cross at the start of this year.
Having always seen education as a calling, Kylie’s journey at Holy Cross began in 1994, and returning to the first school she taught at feels like coming home.
“It was a lovely place to grow as a teacher, and it ignited my passion for teaching. I knew I had made the right career choice by being part of a Catholic community,” she shares.
“I’ve had a passion for working with children since I was a child myself,” Kylie reflects.
“In fact, when I was in Year 12 and choosing my university path, there was no doubt – I knew I wanted to be a primary school teacher.”
