St Francis of Assisi Regional Catholic Primary School Paddington has taken fitness to new heights, offering rooftop Zumba classes.

Zumba instructor and school assistant principal Hayley De Vries said she started the putting on Zumba classes during the COVID-19 lockdown, “to reach out to families, to make a connection, and to get them active whilst they were at home.”

Ms De Vries would film herself doing dance-inspired Zumba workouts and send this footage to families, so students could easily practice the moves in their living rooms.

“The teachers used it to do their sport class each week,” Ms De Vries, who previously worked as a trainer at Crunch Fitness, said.

Now students are back at school, they are coming together in person on Fridays to take part in amazingly fun Zumba dance parties on the school rooftop.
