Boys and girls from six zones across the Sydney Archdiocese battled it out for an opportunity to continue along the representative sports pathway to the MacKillop Touch Football Championships in Werrington on Friday 28 May.

There was some impressive touch footy on display for all to see and convenor Jemma Booth was impressed with what she saw.

“The children had a fantastic time and the (Archdiocesan) trial went smoothly,” Booth said.

“The quality of kids was fantastic; they all did a great job, giving their very best and showing team spirit” – Jemma Booth

Selections

One of the selectors, Rachel Quinn, said picking the teams was tough, with the quality of players improving year on year.

“Selections have been challenging with the skill level and talent being amazing,” said Quinn.

“Touch has grown, along with the ability of the players.”

Reflecting on the female talent, Quinn said: “Interestingly, when I first started it was tough finding enough girls to select for a team.

“Now it’s become difficult to only select a team of 12 with the amount of quality on show.”
