?HOWZAT! Find out who is off to the MacKillop Cricket Championships in Wagga Wagga.

More than 40 primary students battled it out at Centennial Parklands on Tuesday 1 June for a spot in the Sydney Archdiocesan cricket team.

Boys from six zones across the Sydney Archdiocese were looking to secure their place on the team and continue along the representative sports pathway to the MacKillop Cricket Championships on Friday 27 August in Wagga Wagga.

With only 14 spots up for grabs, some quality batting, bowling and fielding was on display for the selectors.

“It’s the pick of the crop from the zones and it’s always a hard decision to see who goes to the next level,” said Robert Aitken, a cricket convenor and one of the selectors.

One of the players on his way to Wagga Wagga is Cooper Clarkson from St Michael’s Catholic Primary School Lane Cove.

“It’s been a really fun day,” Cooper said.

One of the standout wicket-keepers on the day, Cooper secured his spot on the team with some solid performances.

“I’ve been (wicket) keeping pretty well” – Wicket-keeper, Cooper Clarkson

“I batted okay in the first innings as well,” Cooper said.
