Sydney Catholic Schools has raffled off a brand new car in celebration of this year’s World Youth Day and to support the student and staff pilgrims who will be journeying to Portugal in August.

Gary Margetson, a parent at Marist College Eastwood, was the lucky winner of a Mazda 2 and was presented with his prize by Tony Farley, Executive Director of Sydney Catholic Schools, in front of a whole school assembly at the college.

Two other prize-winners were also rewarded with VISA gift cards as part of the raffle.

Funds raised through the purchase of tickets for the raffle will now go towards supporting the hundreds of Sydney Catholic Schools students and staff who will be journeying to Lisbon, Portugal for World Youth Day.

Before descending upon Lisbon, some of our pilgrims will visit the spiritual treasures of Italy to witness the call of St Anthony, St Catherine, St Francis and St Peter, while others will embark on a trip to the Holy Land to walk in the footsteps of Christ.

They will then join together in Lisbon, along with millions of like-minded pilgrims from around the world, for a week of faith, friendship and celebration.
