St Anthony of Padua’s first group of Year 7 students were entrusted with an important job as they took their first secondary school steps in 2021.

As the oldest kids on the block they have taken their younger peers under their wing as part of the College’s 2021 Peer Support Program, leading small groups from all year groups in the same houses in fortnightly projects.

The projects have ranged from designing group crests to building the highest pasta tower.

“It has been wonderful to see the relationships that have developed through the program, which are evident in the students’ interactions in the playground,” St Anthony of Padua Catholic College Austral Principal, Lea De Angelis, said.

Building a culture and a sense of togetherness at the College is vitally important to Ms De Angelis.

“We want to develop a cohesive student body that has connections across year groups and also establishes a sense of house spirit for the newly formed College houses” – Principal Lea De Angelis

“We look forward to the Peer Support program continuing to grow throughout the remainder of 2021,” Ms De Angelis said.
