St Therese School opened in 1967 with 150 children in two Kindergarten classes, a Year 1, and a Year 2 class. Sr Betty McMahon was the founding principal. As enrolments increased, some classes had to be held in the church-hall, which on Fridays had to be made ready for ‘Housie’ on Saturday and Mass on Sunday. St Therese has a deep community spirit which the school still celebrates today.
