Due to declining enrolments in schools St Joseph Rozelle and St Augustine Balmain, it was decided by the Catholic Education Office to amalgamate the parish schools of Balmain and Rozelle. A new school was established named in honour of the founder of Catholic Education in Australia and the parish priest associated with both Balmain and Rozelle, Fr John Therry. Today the school is a primary school for boys and girls from Kindergarten to Year 6.
