Winners of the 2027 Portrait Prize Announced
Sydney Catholic Schools is delighted to celebrate the winners and honourable mentions of the 2027 Portrait Prize.
Selected from an outstanding 677 entries, these young artists have demonstrated remarkable creativity, technical skill and personal expression.
Celebrating its sixth edition, the Portrait Prize serves as a powerful platform to recognise and celebrate outstanding Visual Arts students, setting a high standard of excellence for emerging talent across K–12.
Students are invited to create a portrait of a person who plays a significant role in their life. By encouraging students to create representational portraits, this competition fosters creative expression and emotional intelligence.
The gallery of winners and honourable mentions will be on display from 11-19 December at ACU's McGlade Gallery. A virtual gallery will also be launched online later this term.
Selected category winners will now be entered into the Young Archie Portrait Competition at the Art Gallery of NSW. Additionally, those who receive honourable mentions in the Young Archie competition will undergo a selection process and may have the chance to be featured in the Salon de Refuses at the SH Ervin Gallery.
We warmly congratulate all award recipients and thank our dedicated teachers for nurturing their artistic talents.
