As a result of Pope Leo XIV recently naming Bishop Danny Meagher as the eleventh bishop of the Diocese of Rockhampton, Sydney Catholic Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr Mark Lennon as Interim Chair of the Sydney Catholic Schools Board, effective 11 May 2026.

Mr Lennon brings extensive leadership, governance and strategic experience within the labour movement and across the not-for-profit and education sectors. He has served as Chair of the Sydney Catholic Schools People and Culture Committee since May 2024.

Executive Director of Sydney Catholic Schools, Danielle Cronin, has welcomed the appointment.

“Mark brings deep experience, thoughtful leadership and a strong commitment to the mission of Catholic education,” Ms Cronin said.

Mr Lennon said it was an honour to provide steady leadership and continuity during this interim period.

“It is a privilege to support the important work of Sydney Catholic Schools,” Mr Lennon said.

“I look forward to working with the Board, Executive and school communities to continue strengthening Catholic education and ensuring every student is supported to flourish.”

Sydney Catholic Schools extends its sincere gratitude to Bishop Danny Meagher for his dedicated leadership and valued contribution to the Board over recent years. His wisdom, guidance and steadfast commitment to Catholic education have greatly shaped and strengthened the work of the system.
