Embracing Jesus’ Family
My multimedia artwork reflects on the scripture passage ‘The Visit of the Magi’ (Matthew 2: 9-12). I believe this story highlights a very significant and momentous time in the story of Jesus our saviour.
My artwork has three different coloured double lines around the birth of Jesus and the Magi searching for him. I chose the colours used by the church that represent Advent/Lent, Ordinary Time and Pentecost. These lines embrace the image of the Holy Family at the birth of Jesus. I used watercolour and coloured pencils to create these lines and the patterns within. The gradation of the night sky was created with watercolour. In the sky are the stars that guide the Magi to Jesus. One of the silhouettes of the Magi is pointing to the sky to show the way.
The background is painted in yellow, orange and some brown to remind us that with the birth of Jesus came not only a feeling of love but also of hope.
