Sydney Catholic Schools Executive Director Tony Farley has announced Mr Ray Martin as the Foundation Principal of St Vincent’s College Ashfield following a rigorous selection process. 

Mr Martin, who is currently the Principal at Marist Catholic College Penshurst, will take up his role at the newly formed college at the beginning of the 2023 school year. 

Mr Martin said he is excited about the potential that St Vincent’s is set to offer. 

“We have a great opportunity to bring the three schools together to provide a wide range of curriculum,” Mr Martin said. 

“We have three great schools with staff who are working exceptionally hard and by uniting together we will provide more opportunities for the young men and women of Ashfield and beyond” – Ray Martin 

“Going forward I hope we at St Vincent’s are known as one of the thriving Catholic schools in the community,” Mr Martin added.  

Energising students 

Tony Farley, Executive Director of Sydney Catholic Schools, said Mr Martin’s appointment represented a watershed phase for Catholic education in Ashfield. 

“This is an energising time for the future students, staff and community of St Vincent’s College and we congratulate Ray on this significant appointment,” Mr Farley said.

The St Vincent’s Vision

Sydney Catholic Schools’ three Ashfield schoolsSt Vincent’s Catholic Primary School, Bethlehem College and De La Salle College—will combine to form St Vincent’s College Ashfield from the beginning of the 2023 school year. 

St Vincent’s College Ashfield will support the needs of the changing inner west community and meet the demand in the area for quality Catholic education for all ages. 

The college will offer a broad curriculum and greater choice including areas of specialisation in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, entrepreneurship and global capabilities, and will provide students with opportunities for engaging in a range of learning pathways and partnerships with universities, the corporate sector and not-for-profits.
