The Role

The Specialist: Credit Control role plays an integral part in supporting schools and school communities in the management of outstanding school fee accounts, mentoring team members and handling escalated accounts. The role requires building strong partnerships with School Principals and staff to understand complex financial situations to develop effective plans to retrieve outstanding payments of school fees.

Reporting to the Supervisor: Credit Control, the position will be required to perform tasks, which include but are not limited to:

  • Building partnerships with school Principals, current Debt Collections Agencies and finance staff in relation to families involved with debt collection proceedings, to gain a clearer understanding of the family’s situation.
  • Providing professional expertise on a case by case basis to Principals and finance staff on school managed accounts
  • Establishing and managing an individual family strategy post analysis.
  • Managing fee reductions and adequately reporting on and documenting all agreed arrangements.
  • Understanding the workloads of the team and support where needed to achieve relevant KPIs.
  • Mentoring and developing the skills within the team.
  • Managing the recording of all accounts in delegated reporting applications.

  • Any other duties as directed from time to time.

 The Person

To be successful in this position, you must possess:

  • Experienced in Debt Collection 7-10 years
  • Knowledge and experience in Credit Control best practices.
  • Experience in mentoring and leading teams on Credit Control best practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in complex financial analysis with high level financial acumen & relevant tax legislation
  • Proven contract administration experience.
  • Empathy and experience in managing high pressure and emotionally challenging situations.
  • Strong attention to detail in a high volume, detailed focused environment.
  • Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experienced with Excel/MS Word and Google Docs.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Experienced in customer service and liaising with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • A Valid Working With Children Check clearance (WWC) number.
  • Willingness to respect, support and uphold the mission, ethos and teachings of the Catholic Church and the values of Sydney Catholic Schools.
