An Amazing opportunity has become available within our St George Network for a Reading Initiative Teacher. In this role, you will be responsible for lifting student outcomes in reading by driving professional learning, resource sharing and development, observation and feedback of practice. This position is a 0.4 FTE fixed term role based at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Primary School, Earlwood.  

Reading Initiative Teacher (St George Network)
Location: Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Primary School, Earlwood

In this exciting and rewarding role, you will be involved in making a difference in the lives of young people by:

  • building the capacity of experts within schools to deliver and evaluate onsite professional learning
  • developing an action plan, associated professional learning plan, monitoring of and reporting on target achievement milestones
  • planning, delivering and evaluating the impact of Network professional learning, by accessing and critiquing relevant research on reading instruction
  • demonstrating strong teaching capability through meeting all aspects of the proficient teacher in the Australian Professional Standards and operating at the level of a Highly Accomplished or Lead Teacher in accordance with the NESA Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (although they may not formally hold this accreditation)
  • building teacher capacity and lead key aspects of the Network’s explicit improvement agenda
  • understanding and leading the implementation of high-quality, evidence-based reading instruction that aligns with the K-2 Syllabus
  • coaching, mentoring, and modelling excellent teaching practice in Reading to teachers within the Network schools.

You will also:

  • have the relevant Teacher qualifications and accreditation with a high level of competence and commitment to ongoing professional learning
