About the College

St Vincent’s College will be created by amalgamating three Ashfield Schools – St Vincent’s Catholic Primary School, De La Salle College and Bethlehem College into one co-educational K-12 college, commencing January 2023. As Instructional Leader: RE Curriculum 7-12, you will play a key role in this transformation and support the school community through this journey. Built on the foundations of excellence, the priority of the College in 2023 and beyond is a future-focused strategic vision aimed at delivering ambitious educational outcomes for every student.

The reimagining, redevelopment and rebranding will create a college which forms students who thrive, influence and help create a just and equitable world. The College will deliver flexible approaches at all stages of learning. The proposed model focuses on a comprehensive education, with a particular focus on mathematics, technology, the sciences, entrepreneurial skills, global competencies and a lively Church to the world mission, equipping students to be ethical and optimistic influencers. The model anticipates impactful connections and partnerships with not-for profits, with the corporate sector and with higher education providers. Linking entrepreneurial skills to social service work embodies Ashfield’s Church to the world focus.

About You

The Instructional Leader: RE Curriculum 7-12 forms part of the middle leadership team. The position is co-responsible with the Pastor, Principal and other Catholic lay leaders for the evangelising and catechising mission of the Church within an educational context. Reporting to the Dean of Mission, the Instructional Leader plays a vital role in ensuring that the SCS values of empathy, excellence, truth, curiosity and collaboration are drivers for establishing a thriving Catholic community.

The Instructional Leader: RE Curriculum 7-12 is responsible for leading schoolwide excellence in pedagogical, curriculum and assessment practices and supporting the implementation of new pedagogies for learning in their key learning area(s). The Instructional Leader is an exemplary practitioner who builds the capacity of teachers to deliver excellent student outcomes.

To be considered for this role, you must have experience demonstrating that you can deliver in the following areas:

  • promoting and implementing Sydney Catholic Schools’ mission and vision; To know and love Christ through learning, and thriving Catholic communities through excellent teaching and learning
  • supporting the leadership of a school-wide culture of excellence, informed decision-making, and collaborative practice
  • working with the leadership team in implementing a range of improvement strategies to ensure effective strategic change
  • actively promoting the integration of Catholic values and Catholic Social Teaching across the curriculum
  • ensuring consistency of teaching practice and shared teacher judgement drives assessment
  • demonstrating exemplary classroom teaching practice in their curriculum speciality
  • cultivating a contemporary and effective learning culture
  • developing and implementing effective and evidence-based professional learning to build the capacity of teachers
  • ensuring evaluation of teaching and teachers’ goal setting related to performance and monitoring performance goal achievement
  • leading and collaborating within a culture of ongoing growth and improvement
  • demonstrating organisational, management and leadership skills
  • analysing data and trends within the school to identify areas for growth
  • actively promoting the relationship between student wellbeing and learning growth
  • contributing to a ‘network approach’ that promotes the reciprocal benefits of school system partnerships in the specific curriculum area.

You will have attained the following:

Desirable:

  • a Postgraduate degree in Education or another discipline
  • a current driver’s licence
  • willingness to gain Category E Accreditation (Senior Leader) per the Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead in Sydney Catholic Schools policy.
