The Role

We are seeking a Facilities Officer who will provide subject matter expertise and assistance to ensure the day-to-day smooth management and operation of building infrastructures within the Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) property portfolio, including residential, educational and office properties through administrative support and overseeing maintenance and minor capital works tasks.

The function exists to ensure that facilities are cost-effectively maintained to an adequate standard in accordance with legislative requirements and match the expectations of the students and staff of SCS and the SCS Strategic Plan.

In this exciting role s a Facilities Officer, you will be responsible for:

  • responding to and following up schools’ queries, requests for maintenance and status of approved works
  • the undertaking required school site visits to confirm the need and potential project scope
  • working with consultants and contractors to determine scope, cost and program for minor capital (including repairs and maintenance) works
  • planning and managing the implementation of minor capital works safely, efficiently and ensuring budget, quality, and program expectations
  • managing properties that are not currently under management agency agreements, including preparing properties for leasing and arranging agency agreements
  • ensuring all financial undertakings are performed concerning probity and in accordance with the SCS Financial Stewardship Policy
  • ensuring the credentials of the contractors are registered and securing references from work completed
  • producing financial reports for management detailing the income and expenditure relating to the property portfolio using the SCS systems
  • ensuring properties are compliant in line with relevant legislation.

The Person

To be successful in this position, you must possess:

  • a Tertiary Qualifications in a property and project management or facilities management related discipline
  • experience in liaising with professionals working in building disciplines
  • an NSW WorkCover White Card
  • general computer knowledge and have the ability to use and learn computer applications and maintain software systems
  • experience in a property management or property maintenance environment.
  • strong computer experience, including the google platform and spreadsheets.
  • professional and effective phone manner
  • ability to relate to a variety of people and develop sound working relationships
  • a good understanding of WHS obligations
  • ability to work autonomously and within a collaborative team environment
  • experience in customer service and liaising with a diverse range of stakeholders.

It is also desirable for the successful candidate to have:

  • A good understanding of the Building Code of Australia (BCA).
  • Current driver’s licence.
