About the role

The Education Officer: Curriculum (K-6 Mathematics) role focuses on improving knowledge and practice in Mathematics across Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS).

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to;

  • collaborating with the Curriculum and Innovation Team to research, design, and deliver high-impact evidence-based practices in Mathematics 
  • developing and delivering quality Primary Mathematics Professional Learning
  • developing and delivering quality curriculum resources 
  • building Collective Teacher Efficacy in Primary Mathematics 
  • building collaborative practice among teachers and leaders of Mathematics
  • building teacher capability in understanding how Mathematics and numeracy develop capabilities in students
  • communicating effectively across a full range of platforms and technologies
  • working closely with the Curriculum and Innovation Team to support a consistent approach to the teaching of Primary Mathematics
  • developing positive attitudes toward Mathematics education among students, families, and teachers
  • any other duties as directed from time to time.

About you

To be successful in this position, you must possess:

  • a University Degree in Education or Teaching
  • a minimum of five years of teaching experience in a school
  • experience in leading staff in professional learning
  • demonstrated success in improving student outcomes
  • demonstrated success in implementing school-wide initiatives
  • experience in using data analysis to inform educational initiatives
  • demonstrated ability to articulate contemporary educational trends in both local and international contexts
  • demonstrated high-level written, oral and presentation skills
  • teacher accreditation with NESA
  • the ability to operate at the Highly Accomplished or Lead level of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
