About You

In the newly created role of Dean of Mission, you will be a senior member of the College leadership team. The position is co-responsible with the Dean of the Cathedral, Principal and other Catholic lay leaders for the evangelising and catechising mission of the Church within an educational context. Reporting to the Principal, the Dean of Mission plays a vital role in ensuring that the SCS values of empathy, excellence, truth, curiosity and collaboration are drivers for establishing a thriving Catholic community

To be considered for this role, you must have experience demonstrating that you can deliver in the following areas:

  • promoting and implementing Sydney Catholic Schools mission and vision To know and love Christ through learning and Thriving Catholic communities through excellent teaching and learning
  • leading a school-wide culture of excellence, informed decision making and collaborative practice
  • working with the Principal in implementing a range of improvement strategies to ensure effective strategic change
  • leading a ‘network approach’ that promotes the reciprocal benefits of school and system partnerships
  • leading and ensuring sustained change and innovation within Catholic life and Religious Education to strengthen people’s engagement in the life of the Church
  • collaboratively leading a culture of effective and sustainable religious leadership within parish communities and the wider Church
  • ensuring evidence-based improvement, innovation and the use of data to monitor and inform student learning in Religious Education 
  • ensuring quality teaching and learning improves student outcomes and nurtures every student’s academic, spiritual, social, emotional and moral development.

You will have attained or be pursuing the following:

  • postgraduate qualification in theology or religious education and/or equivalent
  • requirements of (Category E) in the Accreditation Policy to Work Teach and Lead in Sydney Catholic Schools or agree to meet these requirements in your first contract term
  • demonstrate performance at the Highly Accomplished or Lead level of the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
