Sydney Catholic Schools is seeking casual teachers with experience in Diverse Learning to work in Specialist Support Classes across two of our schools – Good Shepherd Catholic Primary School Hoxton Park and Good Samaritan Catholic College Hinchinbrook.

Good Shepherd Catholic Primary School, Hoxton Park is a systemic K-6 school within the Archdiocese of Sydney. We serve a vibrant community that is hope-filled and grounded in faith. Our school motto is NURTURING DISCIPLES.

Good Samaritan Catholic College is a systemic Yr 7 – Yr 12 school. Good Samaritan Catholic College is a comprehensive co-educational Catholic College located in South Western Sydney, Australia. Our challenge is to make a positive contribution to the transformation of society by encouraging independent and creative thinkers to search out new ways of dealing with our rapidly changing world.

About the role

Both Good Shepherd Catholic Primary School and Good Samaritan Catholic College have onsite Specialist Support Classes catering to students with intellectual disabilities. Each class has a maximum of eight students and academic progress is a high priority.

We are seeking teachers who have a range of experience in diverse learning environments to join a casual pool of teachers who can be available to teach the classes when required.

  • an understanding of, and an interest in, teaching students with disability
  • ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • confidence in the use of technology as a learning tool
  • adaptability, flexibility and reliability
  • ability to empower students to be independent and creative learners
  • a commitment to the Catholic ethos of the School/College and the wellbeing of all community members.

You will have attained:

  • a Tertiary qualification in Education
  • eligibility according to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)
  • Employee ID registration number with Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) or a commitment to Register to Teach in SCS.
